Hey Folks...
Not much to talk about this week. Everything seems to be going well with the little one. We're in the midst of "de-cluttering" to prepare for our Garage Sale this weekend... and busy as ever with work. I may, or may not, be feeling the little tyke move... but can't tell for sure yet.
Other family news...
HAPPY big 4-0 BIRTHDAY to Vicki!! Sorry we missed the big poker party :)
Please keep praying for Kelsey and her little boy- they're stable but still in the hospital.
and please keep my brother in your prayers as he looks for a graphic design job in NC (any leads, just let me know!)
That's it for now. Tune in next week for a fun surprise :)
Peace, Kristi

17 Weeks and counting...
Hey Folks! Hope everyone enjoyed the Valentine/President weekend... mine was good, but quiet. Started on Thursday with another check-up with Sam (midwife). All was fine, and we got to hear the heartbeat again- very cool. This time it seemed a bit slower and also more like a drum (last time there was a more swooshy-sound to it). Then we're out all day (errands, work), and I come home to... spotting. GEESH. All is fine now, though, but it landed me on the couch for most of the weekend. I was a tad grumpy about that, since I had been sick (sinus infection) earlier in the week and was T-R-D of sitting/laying around. But Jim and Mom were good company- we watched movies & played Scrabble. Oh, and Jeopardy on the PS2!!
T-R-D means tired. When our nephew Tali was a tad smaller, and would be getting a little sleepy-eyed, I'd say "oh, it looks like someone is getting tired". Fairly quickly, he started protesting "I NO tired". So I spelled it out, and would say to Mom or Jim "someone is T-I-R-E-D". That lasted about 2 times or so, until Tali-boy started arguing "I no T-R-D". How in the world he figured that out so quickly is beyond us!!! But he is a smart guy...
...who we miss. Along with the many Jenkins nieces & nephews up north. It looks like we'll be vacationing in Florida for a while, so it's hard not to see all those cute little ones (and the cute teens or pre-teens too :) We'll have to be content with all our past photos. Of course, anyone is welcome to visit... or to send current pics... or call with funny stories! (Shameless, I know!).
Oh, and before I forget, one last request: please keep my cousin Kelsey in your prayers. She's about 28 weeks along with a little boy, and this last week her placenta ruptured. While the little guy is stable for now, she's got to stay in the hospital. Which is more of a bummer since she has a great 3 yr old daughter (and loving husband!) at home... THANK YOU :) See ya next week...

Not Exactly Fasting...
Hey friends & fam... I never gave a second thought to being pregnant in Lent... until this past week. Last Friday, a parishioner was talking about eating all the chocolate in the house... so it would be gone for Lent. Doh! I immediately panicked! I don't care all that much about the chocolate right now- but no MEAT?
My superhusband must have caught the panic in my eyes, because after they left, he reminded me that I was exempt. Because of the baby-growing. OH Jenkins! Whew. I did manage to ignore and get over a Starbucks decaf vanilla latte craving on Ash Wednesday. I figured just because I was exempt, didn't mean I should a) go for the luxury and b) flaunt it in front of my co-workers at the church!
And then tonight there's the fish fry at church. But between the types they use and the fact that it's all fried (!) I'm thinking I might just chow down on some tacos before heading out. We'll see. It feels very odd to not have 'rules' apply. Isn't this what we humans dream of? Being above or beyond the stuff everyone else has to do? Sigh.
In any case, I've decided to "fast" from excessive internet use. I'm limiting myself to personal-relationship emails (not newsletters), these posts (cuz they help build our relationship- I hope!) and of course work is exempt. At the parish mission earlier in the week, Fr Jim made an offhand comment- he thought that perhaps the tree of good and evil mentioned in the garden of eden today could be the internet! Unlimited knowledge! It's all right here! But really, all the knowledge in the world (or worldwide web) doesn't save us... it's our faith expressed in love and good works. And I thought- hey, that's me. The one going for the unlimited knowledge. Maybe I should get off the computer (not read another gardening book) and clean out the closet. Or actually garden. We'll see how it goes.
And, I'm taking a page from our friend Suzanne... if anyone has any intentions they'd like us to pray for this Lent (the next 5 weeks), just email us and let us know. We'd be happy to. Peace!

Now a baby "lemon"
Hi folks! Turns out our little one is now the size of a lemon... and practicing facial expressions this week! That's the most fun/least gross part of his or her development, anyway! Each week, I try to make up a little nursery ryhme that starts out "hey, hey, little ____" where the blank is the fruit most like her/his size. Lemon is a tough one!
I'm still a tad tired, but not exhausted, which is nice. But I am finding it harder to multitask... and forgetting things I should remember. Otherwise, all is well. I'd like to go shopping this weekend- not time for maternity clothes just yet (I'm not showing), but a LOT of my pants are uncomfortably tight! Geesh.
Thanks for voting on the poll. Two internet quizzes think I'm having a boy... either would be nice. If you haven't taken the quiz...please do! We're nowhere closer on potential names, either. Though last night we were laughing over "Oscar Harry Jenkins" or "Olivia Harriet Jenkins" because the nickname would be OH Jenkins! I know, we have too much time...
Work feels like it's slowing down, even though this month Jim & I both have two (different) nights to work each week. But for me, I don't have to facilitate those events, so it's a tad easier. It'll pick up again in late March-- so when I'm 6 months along, I'll be facilitating classes for parents, at 7 months, we'll have the big Confirmation/First Communion Mass (90 kids!), and at 8 months, there's Vacation Bible School. You can bet I'm trying to drum up a lot of volunteers now!!! See you next week!
