It was a rough day for Kade too; I'm sure it was connected. I'm not sure if it's the new daycare (where he's with a bigger crowd in terms of both #s and ages) OR that I was missing for 2 bedtimes in a row this week... but the little man is a little more aggressive these days. He had a revolving door to time out due to his propensity for sticking trucks in his friends face, or hurling them towards her. Then we visited the twins later, and he wound up trapping his friend between a door and the wall- and repeating banging him with the door. Well, repeatedly until I got close enough to peel him off! We left apologetically and quickly after that.

But the sweetest thing was later in the day. Kaden's been doing more storytelling these days, some of it incoherent, some of it retelling his day or another story, and some of it seems imaginative. So, after dinner I think, we were playing with 2 toy guys, and he starts one guy yelling at the other. Hey, hey, I say soothingly. What's up with those two?

Well, I was jumping on the bed. And Nicky (he waves one of the toy guys around) pushed me down. I hit my head and got hurt, here (he points to the cut near his eye). And then I GOT TIME OUT. But Nicky pushed me! And I got time out! Nicky! Pushed! Me! (He looks at the two toy guys in utter bewilderment). Oooooo, I say (even though he has successfully merged two separate events into one incident, I now have a glimpse of what triggered the door-boy-wall sandwich). How does this guy feel, I ask, pointing to the other toy guy. Idontknow. Happy? No. Sad or mad? Yes! sad AND mad. Mmmm, I say, rough day for everyone. (Sigh) Yes.
